For us, the outdoors has never been just a pretty backdrop. It's where we feel the most alive and fell in love with each other. It is the entire root of our love story. It's where we've spent years learning, exploring, and pushing past our comfort zones together. From summiting mountains out west, ice climbing the frozen waterfalls at Pictured Rocks, and choosing a tent and a sleeping pad we carried on our backs over a warm cabin — wild places are home to us. We don't adventure because it looks awesome on social media. We do it because it grounds us and strips life down to what really matters. There's something powerful about choosing the harder path and finding the beauty within it. That same mindset is why we're drawn to backcountry elopements.
Traditional venues have their place, but for us, love feels different out here. There's something special about saying your vows in a place you had to work to get to. A quiet overlook after a hike. A forest with a clearing hardly anyone knows about. A rocky shoreline where the only witnesses are the waves and the wind (okay, and maybe a seagull or two!). These moments feel earned, intentional and above all, real.
We didn't technically elope for our own wedding. We were surrounded by 90+ of our favorite people at Devin's parents home on the shores of Lake Huron, with the Mighty Mac and the Island in the backdrop. But that feeling we chased was pure elopement energy. We wanted it to feel intimate, unbrushed, and deeply personal to our love story and who we are to our core. Just love, nature, and the people who mattered the most.
That day changed everything for us. It showed us you don't have to disappear into the rugged mountains to have an elopement-style experience. It's about intention, slowing down, and choosing connection over tradition. That transformation is what we want for our couples, too.

We've climbed frozen ice in the Upper Peninsula during the dead of winter, while pitching a tent, so you can be confident we can easily guide you there in the summer. All of that experience comes with us when we guide couples into wild places. We know how to plan, prepare, pack, and stay calm when conditions shift.
